VEG ER for Pets San Antonio is a 24/7 emergency and urgent care veterinary hospital located in the Park North Shopping Center, off Northwest Loop 410, approximately 10 minutes west of San Antonio International Airport. The 5,502 sq ft facility opened in 2023 (TDLR renovation completed September 2023) and is part of the VEG (Veterinary Emergency Group) national network of 120+ hospitals across the US and Canada. Founded by Dr. David Bessler in 2014, VEG's signature open floor plan allows pet owners to stay with their pets throughout the entire visit, including during surgery. VEG San Antonio also operates a VEG Blood Bank location for canine blood donations. The hospital provides emergency care for dogs, cats, birds, and exotic/reptile pets. Medical Director Dr. Jennifer Paugh (DVM, CTCVMP, St. George's University 2007) joined VEG in 2023.
